Ida Rittenberg Kohlmeyer (1912-1997) achieved international acclaim for her abstract paintings and sculptures. She received her B.A in English from Newcomb College in 1933, and then returned to receive her M.F.A from Newcomb Art School in 1956. Immediately thereafter, she began a career teaching painting in the Newcomb Art Department. She is well known for her sculpture, "The Krewe of Poydras", located in downtown New Orleans. In this interview with Adele Ramos Salzer, Ida discusses her time at Newcomb, both as an undergraduate and a graduate student, her artwork, and her feelings on the Tulane-Newcomb relationship.
