In this interview, Tracy Miller and Evelyn Rodriguez talk with New Orleans native, Elsie Catherine Brupbacher Martinez. Elsie (class speaker) graduated from Newcomb College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1948. While at Newcomb, she was a member of the varsity swim team, president of the Barracuda Swim Club, a member of the Newcomb Athletic Committee, a writer for The Hullabaloo, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Elsie is attributed to being a New Orleans writer and has co-authored several books including: Henriette Delille: Rebellious Saint, (2010), with Colette Stelly and Phyllis Reppel; and Uptown/Downtown: Growing Up in New Orleans, (1986), with Margaret Lecorgne. Elsie's spouse, John L. Martinez, was a 1943 Tulane graduate, a professor in the School of Engineering, a former Dean of Admissions, and member of the Tulane Development Office.
