Emery Clark is a native New Orleanian and an artist. She received a BFA from Newcomb College in 1972 and an MFA from Tulane University in 1981. She has also studied at the Boston University School of Fine Arts and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. One of her prominent public artworks in New Orleans was the "NOMA Nile" which transformed the entry drive to the New Orleans Museum of Art into a stylized Nile River for the Treasures of Tutankahaman Exhibition. Her work is in museums and private collections including NOMA, Hunter Museum of Art, Pensacola Museum of Art, Lowe Museum of Art, and many others. Emery helped co-found the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. She is also involved as an advocate bringing healthcare and the arts together to foster healing. Through this work, Emery has developed plans for decorating hospitals and healthcare centers with art by many artists.
