Joanne Omang graduated from Newcomb College in 1964 (and was the class speaker). While a student at Newcomb, she was a member of the A Cappella Choir, Mortar Board, Phi Beta Kappa,and Junior Year Abroad. Omang was also the news editor and managing editor of the Hullabaloo. After graduating from Newcomb, Omang joined the Peace Corps. Today she is known as a journalist for the United Press International and The Washington Post. She is also the author of 'Incident at Akabal' and is a nonfiction ghostwriter, writing consultant, and editor.
