Carolyn Forche was the 4th Zale Writer-in-Residence in 1987. Carolyn writes poetry, translations, and essays. She is the author of 'Gathering the Tribes', 'The Country Between Us', and 'The Angel of History'. She has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Poetry Society of America's Alice Fay di Castagnola Award, several National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, the Lannan Foundation Literary Fellowship, and her second book was the Lamont Poetry Selection of the Academy of American Poets.
