Gold Willard Schorin graduated from Newcomb College and earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Tulane School of Social Work. While at Newcomb, Susan was a cheerleader, a member of ODK Leadership Conference, Honor Board, Angel Flight, Spirit Council, Greenbackers, La Tertulia, Student-Faculty Committee, Homecoming Committee, Lagniappes Commieett, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and was involved in student government including President of her senior class. After graduation, she moved to Boton, worked as a secretary, as a medical assistant, in the Social Relations department at Harvard, and a councelor at Wellesly. She completed a one year fellowship in child psychiatry at Tulane Medical School, and undertook specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders at St. George's Hospial Medical School at the University of London. In 1982, she joined the faculty of the departments of psychiatry and pediatrics at Tulane Medical School and opened an eating disorders clinic at Tulane Medical Center. She is the author of over 20 journal articles and a book 'When Dieting Becomes Dangerous: A Guide to Understanding and Treating Anorexia and Bulimia,' both published as "Susan G. Willard" and was featured in the NOVA documentary 'Dying ot be Thin' in 2002. Some of her honors include 1997 Newcomb College Alumna of the Year, a 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Eating Disorders Association, and a 2008 International Academy for Eating Disorder Outstanding Clinician Award. After Hurricane Katrina, Susan moved away from New Orleans and became a political activist in Northern Virginia. Adele Ramos Salzer (b.1950) graduated from Newcomb College in 1940 with a degree in Chemistry. After graduating, Salzer worked in hospital laboratorie Show moreAdele Ramos Salzer (b.1950) graduated from Newcomb College in 1940 with a degree in Chemistry. After graduating, Salzer worked in hospital laboratories throughout New Orleans. Salzer married Kenneth W. Salzer and together they raised seven children. Salzer remained active in Newcomb College throughout her life, serving as Newcomb Class Agent for her graduating year, and coordinated the class of 1940's fifty year reunion in 1990. She was also an engaged member of the Newcomb Alumnae Association, and served as corresponding secretary from 1976-1978. In 1984, Salzer initiated the Newcomb College Oral History Project, which has gathered interviews with hundreds of Newcomb alumnae and notable speakers. The Oral History Project was established in honor of Salzer's mother, Frieda Beier Ramos. Salzer's continued engagement with the intellectual life of Newcomb led to the establishment of the Adele Ramos Salzer Lecture and Reading Series, which each year brings a speaker to campus to discuss a variety of topics related to gender. While at Newcomb she was involved in the Newcomb Assets, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Sigma, Theta Nu, the Greenbackers, Newcomb Student Government, the Glee Club, the Newcomb Athletic Council, the Pan-Hellenic Council, the Student Council, Jennie Nixon Debating, and the Lagniappes. Calista was the first Newcomb woman to be editor-in-chief of the Tulane Hullabaloo. After Newcomb, Calista worked as a correspondant and assistant editor for the Houston Chronicle and later trained as a psychotherapist and worked at the Texas Medical Center. She has been involved with the Catholic Chaplain Corps, Houston Jr. Forum, St. Anne's Guild, and the Newcomb Alumnae Association. In 1955 at the Republican National Convention, Calista had the honor of seconding the nomination of Dwight D. Eisenhower.
